Once your baby passes the age of where he or she can just be breastfed or formula fed your baby is ready for more solid foods. Over time as the baby does well with solid feedings you can introduce the baby to a variety of different foods including fruit, veggies, meats and even a range of desserts that are baby friendly.

Fruits

There are many fruits that babies can have and that they will enjoy. Bananas of course are always popular but there are also many other fruits that you will find your baby will like. Blueberries, grapes, strawberries, as well as pears are all popular fruits for baby to get to know. You can purchase these in baby food or if you prefer to make your own baby food you can make great food by using different types of fruits.

Veggies

There are many different veggies out there that baby will love to try. Among the popular varieties are butternut squash, pumpkin, and sweet potato. Most babies like these different varieties of vegetables to choose from and it helps the baby to get more nutritional content.

Meats

In adding variety to your baby’s diet you will want to include some meats in there. Most baby food meats include things like chicken and ham and in some cases they may be mixed with some kind of pasta or other items. It is advised that you do not try to give your baby meat until the baby is at least 6-8 months of age for safety reasons.

Desserts

Desserts are not too hard to enter into anyone’s diet including babies. Many of the baby foods will have different desserts for your baby to try including things like blueberry and peach cobblers. If you do not want to use baby food you can always make your own baby safe desserts for your baby. Make sure that you use a lot of fruit and avoid a lot of sugar.
Introducing your baby to new foods can be a challenge especially if you have a picky eater. Introduce new foods at least once a week more if you want or baby is up to it. Make sure that you never give baby several different foods in one day both for stomach upset and allergy concerns. Take your time in introducing the foods and your baby will have an easier time at processing the new tastes and smells.

Introducing your baby to new foods will help your baby to increase his or her appetite as well as making sure that the baby gets more nutritional value from the food that it is eating. Make sure that you include foods that contain a variety of different vitamins such as vitamin C and make sure that the foods also include protein for helping build a healthy body and brain.
