Most couples start getting ready for their new baby when they first learn that they are expecting. A big concern is buying the best car seat for their precious little one. The search can be frustrating because there are so many car seats available from which to choose.
If you are like me, at first I had no clue as to what I should be looking for. Different websites recommended different seats as the best to use. I made myself a spreadsheet listing the manufacturers, models, and features available. This helped me make an informed choice as to the safest car seat and the one that was best for my family. Different things may be important to you. So I am passing on my research in hope that it will be of some use to you in your car seat search. It is comforting to know that a lot of parents have been in your same position.
Is Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat Safe?
Safety is the most important point for most parents. This is always the main thing that I am worried about when buying something for my child. The Britax Frontier car seat has protection from a side impact collision. It anchors to the automobile seat at points that give more stability and lowers the risk of having a head injury.
The Frontier can be set up as a front facing seat or rear facing, so that it can safely be used for the newest baby up to an older child. For babies the seat should be used facing back for the safest possible ride. When the child gets older and larger then they can face forward. They can even use this car seat in the booster position until they weigh about one hundred pounds. The Frontier grows with the child from infancy until they are big enough to not need a car seat any more.
Adjusting the Straps
The straps on the Frontier are adjustable from the back of the car seat. Read the instruction manual first before trying to install the seat or make adjustments. The manual is well written and shows step by step instructions for every adjustment you might need to make. The manual tells how to easily keep the strap from twisting, which is a problem that some customers have reported. There was a recall on the Britax Frontier in 2008 that has since been corrected. There was a problem with the straps coming loose, if they were not pulled out evenly. A piece to correct the problem was sent to all customers that owned the seat at that time, and all seats currently made do not have this problem.
Is Britax Frontier Easy to Install?
The instruction manual clearly illustrates how to use the Frontier in each position for each age child. It is very easy to install this car seat in your automobile and just as easy to make adjustments. The one latch system of installation offers a solid, sturdy connection keeping the seat securely in place. The car seat can be quickly and easily moved to another vehicle without a lot of bother.
Note: If you are using an old car that does not have the Latch connectors, then the Britax Frontier can be more of a tricky installation than the Britax Marathon or Britax Advocate 70 but this is important if you’ll be moving it between vehicles frequently.
This seat is very comfortable for your baby to sit in, so comfortable that they just might fall asleep during the ride. Some older children say that the padded headrest blocks their view out the side window. But the safety it provides greatly outweighs this inconvenience. The Britax Frontier has two cup holders which are great to hold that sippy cup and a cup of snacks when on a long trip. The seat grows along with your child, and is comfortable for any age and size. As your child grows, you decide when the time is right to convert the seat to the next size according to his height and weight.
