This seat is equipped with side “air bags” to soften the impact from a side collision as much as 45%.  It also protects the person sitting beside the car seat, preventing them from injury by the car seat itself hitting them during a crash.
EPP, or expanded polypropylene foam, covers the entire shell, and steel bars reinforce the seat, making it durable and strong.  The Britax Advocate has Britax’s special SafeCell Technology.  In the car seat base are small cells engineered to compress instantly when in an accident, lowering the car seat’s center of gravity.

Another excellent safety feature is the built-in lock-offs to assure correct installation. The Harness Ultra Guard System or HUGS pads on the harness cushion the chest and neck.  The HUGS also keep your child’s head stationary, stopping it from going forward during an accident.  With this unique safety system, it is almost impossible to strap your child in the Britax car seat incorrectly.  You do not have to worry that your baby could slip out while you are driving. Just like in the Britax Marathon 65 and Boulevard 70, there is no re-threading necessary to adjust the height of the shoulder straps.

Pros and Cons

This seat is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.  It may be used on an airplane to keep your child safe while in flight.
The seat is warranted for 7 years of use and should last for all of the time that your child requires a car seat.   The average car seat lasts only six years.
The seat’s side wings offer extra protection for your child when in a side-impact crash.  They also cushion anyone who may be sitting next to the car seat.
No re-threading is necessary to change the shoulder strap height. This is very important if you plan to use the same car seat for several different children with different heights.
The CS Click-n-Safe feature gives an audible click showing that the harness has been tightened properly.  This is reassuring for a caregiver or a grandparent who is not used to putting the kids into their car seats. See the price here.
